In order to meet the demand of the rapidly developing Financial Technology (FinTech) industry, and to promote cooperation between The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Zhejiang University (ZJU) in nurturing talents, the Faculty of Engineering of CUHK and the International Business School (ZIBS) of ZJU initiated collaboration to launch a Joint Training Scheme to train master’s students in the field of FinTech. Witnessed by Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Prof. He Lianzhen, Vice President of ZJU, Prof. Martin D.F. Wong, Dean of Engineering of CUHK and Prof. Ben Shenglin, Dean of ZIBS of ZJU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the partnership on 2 August 2021 on behalf of the two parties. The Scheme is an initiative to realize the complementary advantages of the two FinTech related programmes offered by the two universities, namely the Master of Finance (iMF) programme of ZJU and the Master of Science program in FinTech (MSc FinTech) by CUHK. Combining ZIBS’ strength in business training with Engineering Faculty’s strength in technology training, the Scheme will groom the graduates to be all-round talents to serve the FinTech sector in both Hong Kong and mainland China. Students selected for the Scheme will enjoy an accelerated track to complete both the iMF degree and MSc FinTech degree within two years of study, with one year on ZJU campus and one year at CUHK. The Scheme will commence in the academic year of 2021-22. The first intake is expected to study at CUHK in January 2022. |
