More than 60 high school students were invited to join the 3-day residential engineering summer camp held on campus from 22 to 24 July 2015. Organised by the Faculty of Engineering, students in the camp are engaged in a wide range of inspiring and interesting activities including hands-on programming lectures, project design competition, campus eco-tour, and visited labs of various engineering disciplines. The hands-on lectures are focused on design and computing. Students teamed up to build and drive a programmed engineering car for a competition. At the end of the camp, they discovered the forefront of science from a tour of the Hong Kong Science Park, and learned from outstanding alumni who shared their successful start-up stories and career opportunities in engineering. To imitate a real life of a university student, each participant lived with a roommate in the new hostel of Morningside College and dined in different restaurants on campus. “The Engineering Summer Camp organized by the Faculty successfully exposed our prospective students to the world of engineering and our spectacular campus environment. They would have a better academic planning for undergraduate study at CUHK, and understand their interest in science, engineering and technology more. It is also exciting for our people to interact with so many energetic future engineers during the camp.” Prof. Anthony So Man Cho, Assistant Dean (Student Affairs) said.
