Faculty 25th Anniversary Alumni Banquet Held at Silicon Valley

In celebration of the Faculty 25th anniversary, an alumni banquet was held on 26 May 2016 at Crowne Plaza San Jose-Silicon Valley Milpitas Krystal Ballroom.

The evening began with a welcoming reception, and the Dean of Engineering Prof. C. P. Wong with the two Associate Deans, Prof. Irwin King and Prof. John Lui, gave an update on the Faculty latest research development and achievement.

With the support of the CUHK Alumni Association of Silicon Valley, the banquet was well attended with over 50 alumni based in Silicon Valley, ELITE students from Hong Kong as well as some special guests including Prof. Philip Wong and Prof. Ada Poon from Standford.

劉雲輝：大學須做「主力軍」

最近，香港中文大學機械與自動化工程學系劉雲輝教授與他的團隊，歷時5年成功研發「視覺導航智慧搬運機器人系統」，并於去年成立初創企業，率先將此項研究成果應用於工業叉車，現已獲上海一家創投基金注資約1500萬元。

隨著香港創科局成立，本港不知不覺間掀起一陣「再工業化」浪潮。在智能化、高附加值的「再工業化」計劃裏，機器人的研發及投產是其重要一部分。香港中文大學最新科研成果來自於該校天石機器人研究所所長劉雲輝與他的學生共同研發的「視覺導航智慧搬運機器人」系統，劉雲輝團隊並成功將此項技術應用於工業叉車生產，成立初創企業，目前獲內地創投基金注資約1500萬元。

港研低成本機械腳助中風病人步行

對於長者來說，骨關節和行動不便問題可說十分普遍。尤其是曾經中風者，很多都會出現足下垂問題，即是患者走路時其腳掌會在地面上拖行或內反，而出現高跨步或整條腿往外劃弧形的不自然步姿。這種異常步姿除了不好看之外，更會增加失平衡以及扭傷踝關節的風險。
