中大AI研究成果豐碩，持開放態度拓機遇

人工智能是科研界的大勢所趨，香港於去年一份國際調查報告中的數碼科技的競爭力排名，位列全球第七位，雖為近五年最高一次，但仍遠遠落後全球第一的新加坡。其實，香港在人工智能方面的科研成果驕人，實力不容小覷。不過，有關人工智能的專家和學者認為，香港要持更開放的態度，做好橋樑角色連繫世界各地，彼此通力合作，共同探討人工智能的無限可能及未來發展趨勢，才能開拓更多機遇。

開發配送機器人打通物流最後一公里李興龍無人快遞撬開高校商機

在無人駕駛風潮下，無人配送成為了資本最新青睞的投資藍海。29歲的「極客」港青李興龍一舉搶佔風口，於2016年在中關村與學長聯合始創中國首家無人配送機器人公司「真機智能」，專注解決高校最後一公里的配送。儘管面臨阿里、京東、亞馬遜、聯邦快遞等巨頭「夾擊」，但他毫不畏懼，「無人配送入門門檻比較高，就算我們的模式被複製了，我們依然有技術領先的優勢。」目前，公司第三代產品「真機小黃馬」，將在內地20所高校內推廣，並與多家物流公司簽署了合作意向。

Five students were nominated for the European Innovation Academy (EIA) from 9 July to 28 July 2017 in Italy. The three-week programme gathered participants from worldwide universities. Mentoring and leading by professors and industrial leaders, participants had to form multi-disciplinary teams for setting up new IT innovations.

All participants enjoyed this entrepreneurship programme, which brought them knowledge, courage and friendship.

GLOBEX is a collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering and the Peking University for several years. This year, the faculty sent 19 students to join the summer programme for a month from early July to early Aug 2017. Students could choose to attend a maximum of two courses out of 16 courses under aspects of engineering & science, China-focused and entrepreneurship. A 3-day pre-Globex Beijing city tour was arranged for participants, giving them a glance of the Capital city.

Students found the courses interesting and useful and were deeply impressed by this well-organized and large-scale summer programme.

Given the very positive feedback of the participants last year, the Summer Experiential Programme in Beijing (Yao Class) ran again in 2017 during 26 June – 14 July 2017. The organizer, Yao Class of Tsinghua University, offered two summer courses titled “The Physics of Information” and “Theory and Practice of Modern Information Technology” to our students.

A group of 20 students participated and reflected that the courses were very challenging but motivating. The hard work and solid foundation background of Yao Class students impressed them most. By travelling around the city after class, they knew more about the historical background of Beijing and the lifestyle of Beijing people. All of them rated it an unforgettable trip.
